FAQ’s

How do I choose the correct size?

The Postpartum Abdominal Binder comes in two sizes and in two different heights.  The binder’s design allows it to be constantly readjusted to the body allowing it to cover a wide range of body shapes.  In order to determine your size, measure around your abdomen at your belly button to see what binder is right for you.  If you happen to fall in between belts and have not given birth yet, remember that you will lose 4”-6” once you do give birth.  The size range that the binders can cover is 28”-44” (71-111cm) or 44”-60” (111-152cm).

Choosing the correct height can be a little more difficult.  The height of the binder will be based on torso length.  If you have a shorter torso we recommend the 8” while the 10” for the longer torso individuals.

When can I start wearing the binder?

The Postpartum Abdominal Binder can be worn a day or two after giving birth (some have found it helpful to bring to the hospital).  Before applying the Postpartum Abdominal Binder, please consult with your OB/GYN for guidance.

How long should I wear the binder?

Most patients usually wear the binder for 4-8 weeks post-birth.

Is the binder easy to apply?

The binder is easy to apply, the directions are below:

8” and 10” Postpartum Binder

  • Open up both binder panels.

  • Make sure the “Flex Support ” tag remains on the bottom and away from the skin.

  • Starting with the bottom panel, lay the left side plush panel against the abdominal area.  Stretch the right side elastic panel across the body and connect it to the plush panel to the desired compression.

  • Repeat the same process for the top panel.

Will the binder prevent me from breastfeeding?

No the binder is designed to fit under the breast and will not interfere with breastfeeding.

Can I wear my binder in the shower?

No, unfortunately the binder is not designed to be worn in water.  Simply take off before getting wet.

Can I wash my binder?

Yes, but in order to preserve the quality and compression of your garment, follow our simple guidelines in cleaning your garment.  We recommend that patients purchase two postpartum binders.  This allows one to be worn while the postpartum binder is being cleaned.

Do - Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent.

Do - Line or air dry.

Do - For tougher stains, you can soak the white garments in water with a little hydrogen peroxide.  The peroxide is a natural bleaching agent.

Do Not – Put in washing machine or dryer.

Do Not – Use chlorine bleach.  Bleach can break down material.

Failure to properly care for your garment can cause loss of compression or performance.
